September 9th – Once for All

Hannah Fishwick 10th September 2018

Hannah Fishwick uses the metaphor of the school room to explain how Christ “was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people” (Hebrews 9:28)

The metaphor represents how Jesus, though blameless and sinless, took our punishment on himself, much like a child in school, who although he did nothing wrong, wears the dunce’s hat instead of all those who had misbehaved. As fellow students we would be so thankful to someone who would take our punishment instead of us. So it reminds us just how much more thankful we should be for Jesus, who paid the price for all our past, present and future sins.
