February 17th – Blessed are the Poor

Eric Barker preaches on the blessings and woes from Jesus’ teaching – the Beatitudes – in Luke 6:17-26.

Jesus doesn’t promise the blessings of the Kingdom to those who think they have it all together, who are confident in their own position in life and have the strength and resources to manage on their own. Jesus came to bless the poor – those who recognise their need of his forgiveness, to trust in his strength and to live in his ways.
