Does anybody have experience with developing funding bids?  As the UPC building project progresses towards this stage, we are aware that we are putting a lot of pressure on one person to organise these for us.  If anybody has any time available to help us with this phase of the project, your contributions would be very gratefully received.

Do you love singing? Fancy Gospel music? Come and join a ‘pop up’ choir starting on Tuesday 25th February 6-7pm weekly, in church, to the end of the summer term (term time only) culminating in a ‘performance’ of some kind. All ages, abilities and faiths welcome so bring a friend.

For more details, see Hannah Wallace or email the parish office.

Lydia Muithya is from Kenya and will be giving a talk on behalf of Christian Aid on the impact of climate change and how we can respond, at 7.30pm on Tuesday 24th March at UPC. This will be relevant to all ages.

There is a green First Aid box by the entrance to the parish church. If this is used, the incident should be recorded in the Accident Book and reported to the Church Wardens.

Join us for lunch followed by a practical afternoon thinking about who we are as leaders and learning more about leadership. If you are thinking about leading or are already a young leader come along on 16 February, 12:30-4:00.

Please let Ruth Hutchings know if you can come.

The PCC have agreed for the necessary work to proceed to restore the bells and bell frame in church, as part of The Restoration Mission. The next step, to gain approval from Carlisle Diocese, is under way. Once this has happened the work can be commissioned and will start next year. The money has been raised for this work to be carried out, but fundraising will continue for the rest of the project throughout 2020. To see more of what happens in the bell tower there is a ‘show and tell’ after the 10.30 service throughout February in the creche area, so and chat to our amazing campanologists.

Believe it or not decorating can be fun! Over the weekend of 7th and 8th of March we are asking for volunteers to help redecorate Rooms 1 and 3 of the Parish Centre, and to do some maintenance tasks. We will start with breakfast at 8.30 am on 7th and work through the day. Some tasks will need to be finished on Sunday afternoon. Come and help for as long or short a time as you can. Sign up sheet in the welcome area.

He’s at it again! Poppies chef and owner, Steve Hartley, is a man on a mission. His message is that good, locally sourced ingredients, a handful of simple cooking skills, lashings of enthusiasm and fun, equal great tasting and healthy food. Join Steve at the Chef’s Table as he shares his expertise and fantastic food, in Ulverston Parish Centre 6.30-9.30,pm Thursday 5 March. Tickets £15 available now from Poppies Café & Bistro

If you discover any unwanted Christmas gifts or other (good quality) treasures that you would be willing to donate towards a forthcoming FUNdraising event, please chat to Kristen O’Brien or Sue McKenzie.

Together we are The Restoration Mission, Restore, Renew, Revive

The time has come again when we will be hiring chefs for the annual Pancake Party on Tuesday 25 February! Last year we had over 100 mouths to feed so we would like to prepare at least 200 pancakes this year. Please fill in the form at the back of church with your name, contact details and how many pancakes you think you could prepare. Speak to Hannah Fishwick if you can volunteer to set up, serve, play games or tidy up.

Please note that due to clashes, we have moved our meetings to the 2nd Monday & Thursday of the month. Our next meetings are as follows:

  • 10 & 13 Feb   Christian denomination
  • 9 & 12 March   LGBT+

Contact Hannah Fishwick for more information.
