Kendal and District Debt Centre is RECRUITING

… for a Volunteer Debt Centre Manager.

Are you passionate about the local church? Are you drawn to support those in great need? Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is an award-winning, national charity working through local churches, delivering hope, support, and practical solutions for thousands of people across the UK affected by poverty and its associated causes.

Debt Centre Manager Needed

We’re thankful to Parr Street Church in Kendal who have left a legacy of their CAP involvement over the last 10 years. They saw over 77 families go debt free and many people come to know Jesus through this amazing ministry. In 2019 the Debt Centre at Parr Street sadly closed, but in November 2019, with 17 church leaders present, leaders agreed to fully support the centre and to set up a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) to employ a debt centre manager.

The need for supporting those in Debt has only grown since the Covid pandemic took hold reinforcing the very real need for a debt centre in Kendal. An application has been made to the Charity Commission to set up the new charity called ‘Kendal and District Debt Centre’. Three trustees have been appointed, with a steering group having been formed, working with the church leaders in Kendal to launch the debt centre.

We are truly thankful to all those who have prayed and given financially to the work of the CAP Debt Centre. Despite having the funds for the first year, we can’t employ a debt centre manager until our application to form the charity is accepted, a process which can take some months. So that we can start this vital work without delay, we are seeking a volunteer to train and start work as the Debt Centre Manager in November. As soon as the CIO is formally registered, the job holder will be offered paid employment at 16 hours a week.
