This year the children have been learning ‘Hear the Bells’ by Nick & Becky Drake and will be performing it during the Explore Together service on Sunday 9 December. It would be great if families could practise this song at home so the children are as confident as possible. Please arrive early to allow time for dressing up (costumes provided)

Please note: there is no Junior Church on Sunday 30 December

The 2019 calendar is now on sale! Sample at the back of UPC, they can be ordered from Tina Boyle. All funds raised go to St John’s church.

In April 2019 a group of young people are going on a mission trip to Sarajevo. There is a list of events at the back of church. Tickets are available from Libby for the Ceilidh on 7 December, in church.

Yes it’s that time of year again! Christmas decorations have been discussed and I am hoping that once again, groups will be happy to each decorate a windowsill for the Christmas season. We would like the decorations to be completed and ready for the carol service which is on Sunday, 16th December at 6.30 p.m.  (check the notice sheet for when the church is in use).

Any donations towards the cost of the Christmas flowers will also be much appreciated.

Thank you,  Margaret

Offers of mince pies for the carol service at 6.30 on 16 December would be much appreciated. Please see Helen Huck

A new Children’s Choir! For children who love singing, school years 3 to 6, starting in the new year. Invite your friends and spread the word! Please speak to Beccy Greaves or Lucy Freitas for more details.

We are running the Alpha course again beginning Wednesday 16 January 2019. It’s for anyone  curious about the Christian faith. Over 10 weeks the conversations are designed to encourage and explore faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. The evening starts at 7pm with a meal. Sign up letters are available in the church or office. Please speak to Alan, Hannah Fishwick or Hannah Wallace for more information.

Please also sign up in church if you could provide a meal for Alpha

The churchyard is in a process of affiliation to the Quiet Garden Movement as a place where people can come to be still and at peace. However we need a few more seats. If you have an old garden bench to recycle we would be very grateful.

See Jane Parker or Elizabeth Thompson.

On Saturday, 12 January after a hearty breakfast, we will be holding a working party to complete a number of maintenance tasks for the church. We would like to encourage as many as possible (particularly strong men) to give a small amount of time to the church on this day to keep our property in good order. Please let Anthony Muckelt know if you can join in.

All are invited to an event in Keswick on Saturday 2 February organised by Cumbria Theological Society, Churches Together in Cumbria and St John’s Keswick; details at
