HELLO MESSAGE from St. John’s
It may come as news to many of you that UPC has a daughter church! St John’s is a little village church near Broughton Beck, with a small but dedicated congregation who prefer a quieter style of worship, meeting twice a month with a focus on the countryside around us. Our beautiful churchyard is currently full of bluebells, and we were hoping to partner with UPC in a bio diversity project in July, run by Caring for God’s Acre. I’m sure this will still take place at some point, as will the two May weddings which unfortunately have had to be postponed.
Our next service was due to be Rogation, a time when we ask God’s blessing on the planting and pray for all those in the area around us. Most of this service takes place outdoors, so we are currently considering ways of still marking the occasion on May 24th. It may have to be in a “virtual” or Facebook world, but watch this space! Because we are a small congregation, it is relatively easy for us to keep in touch with each other and there is naturally some overlap with the UPC congregations. We have a telephone “tree”, an e mail group, a Messenger group and of course there is a St John’s Facebook Page. Check us out
– the profile pic is red and invites you to “Stay calm and go to Evensong!” Please remember us in your prayers as we do you in ours.
Janice Eadington (Reader with responsibility for St John’s).
It is more important than ever before to keep in touch with each other! Be it a quick text or a lengthy letter, contact your prayer buddy to show them you are thinking about them and praying for them even though you can’t see them. If you would like a prayer buddy email firstname.lastname@example.org
CHURCH SUITE NEEDS YOU
We need you to tick your boxes on ChurchSuite.
We would love to stay in contact as a church but if
we don’t have permission then we can’t! Also the
rotas are due out soon, so if you haven’t ticked your
boxes on your My ChurchSuite this will cause
problems for the staff team working behind the
scenes. Please see the pictures below to see where
your tick boxes are:
