LAY TRAINING

If you are wanting to explore your calling in a supported and informed way, with some training, and recognition at the end, you may be interested in the Authorised Lay Training Pathway

The time to sign up is now, as the first ‘teaching’ session is 29th September. There is an evening Taster session on 12th August. If you have any queries please contact Emma.Richardson@Carlislediocese.org.uk

How DID they do that in 1866?

Plans for UPC Heritage day on September 18th are progressing well.
However, the activities are many but the volunteers are few!!!

Please consider sharing in the fun with us on the day, for as little or long as you can. We need welcomers, help with children’s activities, overseers of displays and servers of refreshments… to mention just a few! All offers gratefully received. You can either, talk to Sue McKenzie and Helen Huck or, email Jen Cox at office@ulverstonparishchurch.org.

Thank you.

Biodiversity- next steps

Working with SLDC, we have mowed the first SPRING blooming portion of our Beautiful Wildflower Meadow. This meadow has ushered UPC into Biodiversity! Volunteers raked the mown grass removing the dominant seeds to encourage a wider variety of growth.

Our next effort will be 12th August when we rake the SUMMER blooming section of the Wildflower Meadow (in front) and Field (behind) of church. All hands welcome!

COVID PRECAUTIONS

Welcome to Ulverston Parish Church. We recognise, that, whilst formal restrictions on face masks, social distancing, track and trace and hand sanitisation are no longer required by law, there will be people attending church who have a range of views, anxieties and needs which we wish to respect.

So, we have put into place the following arrangements for your comfort and security:

  • Please continue to use the hand sanitiser, this represents general hygiene (even God’s people carry germs!)
  • Feel free to wear a mask if that makes you feel safe. If you choose not to wear one, please be sensitive to the wishes of others.
  • If you feel comfortable sitting with others, can we encourage you to use the open pews in the central aisle, we are retaining the pews in the South aisle for those who wish to remain socially distant.
  • The North aisle is set up with tables for families or groups who wish to keep in a bubble for social distancing purposes.
  • Our understanding is that the virus is most easily transmitted by air, whilst we are now able to sing, we would encourage you to wear a mask whilst doing so as this will reduce the risk to others.
