YOUTH CLUBS

Vision is for children in school Y5 & Y6 and is held in the Basement every Wednesday during term time, from 3:15pm. Please see Hannah for details.

Energise is for those in school Y7-11, held on Tuesdays during term time at 7:30pm in the Basement.

SOUL SURVIVOR

We’re looking for a person with a van to help transport equipment down to Stafford for Soul Survivor, and bring it back. This will be on Saturday 3 August and Thursday 8 August. Please contact the parish office if you can help.

BUILDING PROJECT

Please visit the display in the Side Chapel showing the architect’s presentation of the building project.

WANTED! Title and Strapline

We are seeking a memorable name for the  church building projects to inspire both our church family & the community.  Information and forms are available at the back of church.

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK (12 – 18 May 2019) The collection packs for this year are at the back of church. The more envelopes we deliver, the more lives we can change. It would be great to see some new faces helping.  If you would like more information please speak to Doran Wells.

CHURCH FAMILY AWAY DAY

We are returning to Allithwaite for our annual Away Day on 18 May. The day is an opportunity to relax together, plan and get to know one another better. There will be activities for children throughout the day. Please put your names on the sign up sheet at the back of church as soon as possible. Everyone welcome!

ALPHA FOLLOW-UP

A post-Alpha course is taking place fortnightly on Wednesdays from 7pm in the Basement. Next meeting is 15 May. See Glyn for more details.

OUR NEW CURATE

On 28 May Madi Simpson and her family move into the Pennington Vicarage at Swarthmoor. It has been empty for a while and needs a freshen up. Joanna Barker plans to clean on Sat 25 May and would welcome help. Please let her know if you can assist. The grass needs cutting before 28 May you can help?

Traditionally we  provide a welcome hamper so box will be under the table at the back of church until Sunday 26 May for any donations. Thank you!

SUMMER GRASS CUTTING VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED!

We need a team of 6 strong grass cutters to maintain the area within the church railings on a rota over the summer.  It takes about 2 hours and all equipment is provided.  Please speak to Elizabeth Thompson if you would like to volunteer.

MEN’S ACTIVITY WEEKEND

The Men’s Activity Weekend is provisionally booked for June 28 – 30 and is to be held in bunkrooms in the Peak District. Hiking and mountain biking are confirmed and other activities are to be arranged. Accommodation cost is dependent on numbers (£25 – £50 per person). Please contact Tom Cox for more details.

MISSION TO BLACKPOOL

FREE MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS COURSE

Saturday 22 June 9.30am at High Newton Village Hall. This 3 hour course will help increase our understanding of mental health issues and provides an accredited qualification.  Contact the Church Office for more details.

PRAYERS FOR THE PARISH

The monthly prayer meeting for the church is on the last Thursday of the month at Keith and Janet’s house. Starting with coffee at 7pm, all are welcome.

SUICIDE AWARENESS EVENT

For anyone in the Barrow-in-Furness and Copeland communities with an interest in reducing suicide. Suicide Safer Barrow aims to increase understanding of when someone is at risk of suicide, of how to offer practical support, and the range of help and resources available for people in our communities experiencing suicidal thoughts.

Free to attend – No booking required – refreshments available.

Suicide Safer Barrow Launch – Monday 13 May 6.00-7.30pm – Barrow Army Reserves Centre, Holker Street LA14 5AR.

P4Y (Prayer 4 Youth)
